Licensed Addiction Specialist needed for a private, nonsectarian, not-for-profit behavioral healthcare organization

Pay Rate: $22 – $25 per hour 
Location: Onsite in New Bedford, MA 
Employment Type: Direct Hire 
 
**In compliance with the Department of Health and company policy, PPD/TB Test within the past 90 days of start date (Skin, T-spot or QuantiFERON will be required)

At the core of our client's clinical approach to service is the relationship between the organizational mission and actual service delivery. They emphasize on personal investment, perseverance, and hope are entrenched within the model’s primary phases of treatment: Engagement, Assessment, and Treatment Planning. Together, they guide service provision in a way that truly recognizes and respects the “client voice” within the recovery model. 
 
As the Licensed Addiction Specialist, you'll be responsible for managing care for program clients by providing counseling and advocacy in a therapeutic setting. Your efforts will make a major impact in helping clients with chronic mental illness and co-occurring disorders achieve social, economic, emotional, and personal independence in order to live in the community. 
 
Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and promote an environment that is recovery oriented, supporting the individuals’ rehabilitation goals and interventions of people served. 

  • Complete Substance Abuse Assessments for all individuals as indicated 

  • Develop, implement, and modify treatment plans based on a comprehensive client assessment. 

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers by being courteous and helpful. 

  • Assess mental health status, safety, and any potential medication contraindication.  

  • Coordinate substance abuse services and serves as a liaison with other treatment facilities upon discharge. 

  • Complete clinical documentation in accordance with company policy and procedures. 

  • Actively participate in supervision process and team/organizational performance improvement initiatives 

  • Show appreciation and respect for customers' needs, expectations and perspectives. 

  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of mental illnesses and intervene therapeutically in a recovery based environment.  

  • Empower clients through advocacy and skill building.  

  • Exercise good judgment and decision making, particularly during crisis situations. 

  • Demonstrate knowledge of prescribed medications, ability to monitor medications, and follow state specific medication guidelines. 

  • Maintain client records in accordance with agency policy and procedures 

  
Requirements:

  • Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor (LADC) Required 

  • 1+ Years of experience providing support to individuals with serious and persistent mental illness 

  • Preference will be given to candidates that may meet the cultural and linguistic needs of the patient population in this area. Multilingual candidates are preferred 

  • Computer literacy to navigate EHRs, collaboration tools, email, etc. 

  • Knowledgeable of DSM classifications and conditions. 

  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
