Certified Peer Specialist needed for a private, nonsectarian, not-for-profit behavioral healthcare organization 
Job ID: 24081 
Pay Rate: $20-23.00 per hour 
Location: Onsite in New Bedford, MA 
Employment Type: Direct Hire 

Schedule: Full Time 8 AM – 4 PM 

**In compliance with the Department of Health and company policy, PPD/TB Test within the past 90 days of start date (Skin, T-spot or QuantiFERON will be required)

They currently serve more than 7,000 individuals through a person-centered approach across 6 states with increasingly progressive models of care for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness. DRIVING THE MISSION  

At the core of our client's clinical approach to service is the relationship between the organizational mission and actual service delivery. They emphasize on personal investment, perseverance, and hope are entrenched within the model’s primary phases of treatment: Engagement, Assessment, and Treatment Planning. Together, they guide service provision in a way that truly recognizes and respects the “client voice” within the recovery model. 
 
As a Recovery Specialist, you'll be responsible for providing care to a range of young adults to geriatric individuals with person centered, strength-based, time-limited therapeutic supports and clinical interventions that focus on each individual’s recovery. 
  

Responsibilities:

  • Drawing on one's common experience as a peer, provide peer counseling and support and validates others experiences while providing guidance 

  • Maintain and promote an environment that is recovery oriented, supporting the individuals’ rehabilitation goals and interventions of people served. 

  • Participate in staff organizational meetings and treatment planning 

  • Document individuals' progress in their medical record 

  • Collaborate to ensure the protection of rights in order to help persons in recovery improve their knowledge of their rights 

  • Support and coaching individuals in areas such as money-management, seeking employment, personal development, etc.  

  • Attend to in-room care by delivering and serving meals, and keeping rooms clean. 

  • Escort patients to and from appointments and ensure safe transport. 

  • Assist individuals with developing & identifying meaningful goals for their Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) focusing on the needs that brought them to the program.  Areas of focus could include: mental health recovery education, independent living, housing, entitlements, daily living skills, substance use, relationships, vocational & leisure. 

  • Other duties as needed 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED  

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services related field preferred 

  • Current CPS certification through the Massachusetts Certification Board 

  • Must possess unique skill set as a person in recovery to extend knowledge to individuals served 

  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail and teamwork skills 

  • Preference will be given to candidates that may meet the cultural and linguistic needs of the geographic needs and area. Multilingual candidates are preferred
