Patient Access Specialist Needed to Support a Georgia Healthcare Company

Pay Rate: $19/HR – $20/HR
Work Setting: Onsite
Employment Type: Contract to Hire
Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8 Hour Shift (Between 7:30am-5:30pm), with potential to pick up extra shifts, Weekends
About the Role:
Our client is seeking Patient Access Specialists. This role is the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and seamless experience. You will play a vital part in gathering patient information, verifying insurance, and facilitating financial arrangements to support the healthcare journey.
As a Patient Access Specialist, you will contribute to a service of excellence and deliver high-touch, coordinated care.
What Your Day Looks Like:
- Greet all guests with a positive and professional attitude, interview patients and representatives to gather and input accurate demographic, financial, and insurance information.
- Assist physicians with scheduling, pre-admission processes, screening, and hospital navigation, resolving errors and applicable Claim, DNB and Patient Work Queues; interpret physician’s orders to determine procedures and provide clear patient instructions.
- Conduct insurance verification and obtain necessary consents/attestations.
- Coordinate the collection of co-payments, unmet deductibles, and other patient liabilities; support financial counseling, identify payment plans, and refer patients to appropriate assistance programs.
- Respond to patient inquiries regarding services and account information.
- Ensure all registration documentation and financial arrangements are complete and accurate.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Demonstrate a steadfast commitment to client’s values, professional etiquette and maintains regular and punctual attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 1 year in healthcare or a corporate/institutional environment.
- Proficiency with patient registration systems (Epic experience preferred).
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong data entry and computer skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Attention to detail, self-direction, and problem-solving skills.
Onboarding Requirements:
- Complete Patient Access Services (PAS) onboarding training.
- Pass final onboarding exam within 45 days of hire.
