A leading healthcare organization in Georgia is seeking professional Patient Access Specialists with Epic experience to join a private practice clinic. As the first point of contact for patients and visitors, this role is crucial in providing a welcoming experience while supporting key administrative processes.
Patient Access Specialists are responsible for gathering accurate demographic, financial, and insurance information to support billing and account management. They verify insurance benefits, obtain necessary consents, coordinate patient liability collections, and address customer inquiries. Additionally, they perform pre-certification screenings for Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care patients, ensuring financial risks are minimized and the organization receives appropriate reimbursement.
This role is critical in ensuring smooth patient access operations, supporting financial integrity, and enhancing the overall patient experience within the healthcare organization.

What Your Day Looks Like:
- Greet patients and visitors professionally, ensuring a pleasant experience. Interview patients and representatives to obtain and verify accurate demographic, financial, and insurance information during registration. Obtain required consents and explain policies as needed.
- Conduct pre-certification screenings for Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care patients. Verify insurance benefits and coverage for inpatients and outpatients. Coordinate the collection of patient liabilities, including co-payments and unmet deductibles. Establish financial arrangements and provide information on financial assistance programs.
- Accurately enter, update, and maintain patient records in the registration system. Ensure proper documentation of non-routine circumstances and billing processes. Process receipts, cash, and transactions following established procedures. Maintain proficiency in data entry skills and patient registration systems (Epic preferred).
- Respond to patient inquiries, resolve account concerns, and provide hospital information and directions. Address customer concerns using established procedures.
- Assist physicians and their office staff with scheduling, pre-admission, and Medicaid screenings.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies. Adhere to all operational policies and ensure data integrity.
- Financial Counseling: Identify patients without adequate insurance coverage and assist in determining eligibility for financial assistance programs. Contact scheduled patients at home to obtain pre-admission information, explain financial policies, and estimate self-pay balances. Establish payment arrangements to reduce financial risk for the organization.
- Work closely with various departments, including Admitting, Outpatient Registration, Emergency Registration, Utilization Review, Nursing, Social Services, and Patient Financial Services, to ensure continuity of information and cash flow. Maintain a working knowledge of available information system capabilities and required system applications.

What You Bring:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of one year in a healthcare or corporate work setting.
- Epic experience required.
- Completion of Patient Access Services onboarding training and passing the final exam within 45 days of hire.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and interact with patients empathetically and professionally.
- Maintain professional appearance and conduct in alignment with department and hospital standards.
- Adhere to established work schedules, including proper notice for absences and tardiness.
- Attend departmental meetings and complete mandatory training as required.
- Successfully complete PAS onboarding exam to progress through further training and certification programs as approved by leadership.
- Demonstrate commitment to service excellence by creating positive first impressions, ensuring high-touch, patient-centered care, and continuously improving processes.
