A behavioral healthcare organization with a unique approach to changing lives is seeking an entry-level Instructional Support Specialist (ISS) for its schools. This role is similar to a paraprofessional position and is available in four of six schools within the organization. The schools serve children, adolescents, and young adults with a wide range of needs, including behavioral health challenges, autism spectrum disorders, and intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

What Your Day Looks Like: 

• Ensure the health and safety of students in the classroom and other school settings. 

• Support teachers with classroom management, academic activities, and social and behavioral needs. 

• Implement and reinforce Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) strategies and objectives. 

• Report student progress on a daily basis, adhering to instructional and administrative guidelines. 

• Assist with activities of daily living (ADL) for students, particularly those with IDD or autism. 

• Use de-escalation techniques and, when necessary, perform physical restraints as trained to manage challenging behaviors. 

What You Bring:

• High school diploma or equivalent (required). 

• Minimum age of 21. 

• Experience working with IDD, autism spectrum disorders, or behavioral health (preferred). 

• Willingness to perform physical restraints as needed, with training provided. 

• Ability to manage challenging behaviors in a compassionate and professional manner. 

• Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build rapport with students, teachers, and team members. 

• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced educational setting.
