What Your Day Looks Like:
Production Floor Management
- Responsible for meeting the production forecast and ensuring company goals are achieved.
- Oversee and manage all operations on the production floor.
- Coordinate with Batch Makers to ensure correct formulas are produced and scheduled according to the Production Planner’s direction.
- Work closely with the Canning Line Supervisor to guarantee that products are packaged and palletized correctly.
- Collect samples from canned products and ensure cleanliness throughout the filling process.
- Ensure smooth workflow on the production floor and timely turnover of tanks for new batch production.
- Monitor production labeling to meet filling line demands, coordinating with marketing and the print shop for timely label generation.
- Organize personnel for relabeling and repackaging as needed.
- Resolve discrepancies among employees or between departments.
- Plan and oversee weekend work for the main production floor and miscellaneous jobs.
Inventory Management
- Manage raw material inventory and other essential production and janitorial supplies.
- Supervise multiple warehouses and raw material containers, ensuring material handlers efficiently move and store items.
- Coordinate with the Director of Operations and Procurement Coordinator to place orders for raw materials.
- Work with the Procurement Coordinator on receipt dates and available storage space.
- Receive bulk materials into inventory and submit paperwork to the Procurement Coordinator for final processing.
- Oversee the offloading of bulk trucks carrying solvents, resins, and emulsions into tank farm storage.
- Maintain control over fill nozzles and gates for bulk material handling.
- Ensure accurate inventory tracking for packaging materials, including various container sizes and related boxing materials.
- Order and manage janitorial supplies for locker rooms and front office spaces.
- Oversee waste generation management, coordinating disposal timing and logging with the lab and Director of Operations.
Inventory Cycle Counts and Quality Control
- Work with the inventory count specialist to perform regular cycle counts for raw materials and packaging items.
- Maintain an organized schedule and investigate significant inventory discrepancies.
- Oversee weekly cycle counts for bulk tank farm materials and other critical raw materials or packaging items.
- Collaborate with Quality Control to ensure the timely turnaround of production batches.
- Assist Chemists in resolving batch issues and ensuring products meet specifications.
- Investigate non-conforming batches and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with the Lab Manager or Chemists for formula modifications to optimize inventory use.
Cross Department Coordination
- Ensure on-time and complete deliveries by coordinating with warehouse and canning line supervisors.
- Provide accurate timelines for the completion of critical items before shipping truck arrivals.
- Assist HR in the hiring process.
- Work with Sales and the Supply Chain Manager to prioritize production schedules and maintain customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with maintenance personnel to keep equipment in proper working order.
- Support Quality Control and R&D in handling non-conforming batches, scaling up production batches, and revising formulas for efficient operations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring:
- Minimum of 5 years of industrial work experience in a manufacturing or technology-driven environment.
- Experience in a chemical environment, architectural coatings, or industrial coatings industry highly preferred.
- Excellent analytical skills, technical writing, and strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively across functions, with customers, and with management.
- Strong team leadership and problem-solving capabilities.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage complex manufacturing processes.
