Senior Counselor Needed for a Behavioral Healthcare Provider

Pay Rate: $90K – $100K
Location: On-site in North Stonington, CT
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-4:30pm

A behavioral healthcare organization dedicated to delivering exceptional, integrated medical, psychological, and traditional self-help approaches to addiction treatment is seeking a Senior Counselor to provide both clinical supervision and direct client care.

This leadership role requires a Master’s level Licensed Counselor with a minimum of three years of professional experience and is responsible for overseeing a team of licensed and unlicensed Master's level Counselors and Instructors, ensuring high standards of clinical practice and client outcomes.

What Your Day Brings:

  • Provide clinical supervision in compliance with regulatory requirements, maintaining accurate documentation of all sessions.
  • Manage a caseload of 12–18 clients, including conducting group counseling, leading psychoeducational groups, completing assessments, developing treatment plans, and executing discharge plans.
  • Offer administrative coverage for the Senior Director when required.
  • Supervise the internship program, including training, supervision, and performance evaluations of interns.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the clinical program.

What You Bring:

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field (Required).
  • Independent licensure (LPC, LMFT, LCSW, etc.) (Required).
  • Minimum of three years of professional counseling experience (Required).
  • Experience in clinical supervision and staff mentorship (Preferred).
  • Expertise in group counseling and psychoeducational group facilitation.
  • Skilled in assessments, treatment planning, and discharge coordination.
  • Proficiency in Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and 12-Step Facilitation.
  • Strong clinical supervision and leadership abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to foster a culturally sensitive, respectful therapeutic environment.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office; ability to use standard clinical and communication tools.
     

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use a computer and phone frequently
  • May involve occasional lifting or pushing of up to 25 pounds
  • Work environment may occasionally involve exposure to allergens or loud noise
