Location: Hybrid in Woodinville, WA
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM
Our client is an established home services company providing professional repair, installation, and maintenance solutions throughout the greater Puget Sound area. As the HR/Payroll Manager, you will oversee payroll processing and key HR operations to ensure accurate, efficient, and compliant practices across the organization. You will manage payroll calculations and reporting, maintain employee records and HR systems, and support areas such as benefits and leave administration. In this role, you will partner with internal teams while identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems, and overall operational efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manage accurate and timely payroll processing for a multi-state workforce.

Perform payroll calculations, reconciliations, and reporting using advanced Excel functions and tools.

Review payroll data, resolve discrepancies, and ensure accurate payroll submissions.

Maintain employee records and payroll information within HR systems.

Oversee day-to-day HR operations, including benefits, leaves of absence, and employee data management.

Support compliance with applicable federal and state payroll and employment regulations.

Partner with HR and internal teams to coordinate employee changes and operational needs.

Identify opportunities to improve payroll and HR processes, systems, and overall efficiency.

Qualifications
-
Prior experience in payroll, HR operations, or a related function required.

Experience managing payroll for a multi-state workforce required.

Strong Excel skills, including experience with PivotTables, lookup functions, formulas, and complex spreadsheets.

Working knowledge of payroll practices, wage and hour requirements, and employment regulations.

Experience with HRIS and payroll platforms; Paylocity experience is a plus.

Familiarity with benefits administration, leave management, and employee recordkeeping.

Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.

Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet recurring payroll deadlines.

Strong communication and collaboration skills across employees, HR, and business teams.
