Location: Onsite in Bellevue, WA
Employment Type: Contract, 6 Months
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4 PM

As the Leave of Absence Specialist, you will manage and support employee leave programs with a strong focus on Washington Paid Family & Medical Leave (PFML). You will maintain accurate leave records, coordinate administrative activities, process timecard updates, and serve as a knowledgeable resource on leave policies and requirements. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable navigating manual processes while identifying opportunities to improve workflows and support the transition to a new leave management system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Administer and track employee leaves, with a strong focus on Washington Paid Family & Medical Leave (PFML).

Maintain accurate leave records and documentation using Excel and other internal systems.
- Manage employee accommodation requests, including documentation, coordination, and the interactive process in partnership with employees and internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate administrative activities related to FMLA cases managed by a third-party administrator.

Process leave-related timecard entries and ensure accurate, timely updates each pay period.

Serve as a subject matter expert on leave programs, policies, and applicable state requirements.

Provide guidance and recommendations to improve leave administration workflows and processes.

Support the transition from manual leave tracking to AbsenceSoft as the new leave management system is implemented.

Partner with HR and other stakeholders to resolve leave-related questions, discrepancies, and administrative issues.

Maintain confidentiality and ensure leave practices align with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications
-
Prior experience administering employee leave of absence programs.
- Hands-on Washington Paid Family & Medical Leave (PFML) experience required.
- ???????Prior experience independently managing workplace accommodations and the interactive process; knowledge of applicable ADA and state requirements strongly preferred.

Experience with state leave programs in California or Oregon strongly preferred.

Strong understanding of leave regulations, policies, and compliance requirements.

Comfortable managing manual processes, tracking leave data, and maintaining detailed records.

Proficiency in Excel; experience with PivotTables and VLOOKUP preferred.

Experience with Workday or a similar HRIS preferred.

Strong attention to detail, organization, and data accuracy.

Ability to work independently, identify process improvements, and provide informed recommendations.

Strong communication and problem-solving skills with the confidence to serve as a leave subject matter expert.
