Complex Claims Accounts Receivable Specialist needed for dedicated Health Organization

Pay Rate: $20.00-$30.00 DOE
Location: Remote – Florida

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-level follow-up on outstanding insurance claims across multiple payer types, including Medicare, Medicaid, Medi-Cal, Commercial, and Managed Care.
  • Review, analyze, and resolve claim denials using payer portals, EOBs/ERAs, and billing systems.
  • Identify and escalate systemic payer issues or coding concerns to leadership.
  • Submit corrected claims and appeals with appropriate documentation, ensuring compliance with payer-specific requirements and deadlines.
  • Communicate professionally with payers, patients, and internal departments to gather or clarify necessary information.
  • Monitor aging reports and prioritize work to meet departmental productivity goals.
  • Document all actions taken on accounts according to department standards.
  • Participate in payer audits, special projects, and process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of healthcare A/R experience required.
  • Proven success in resolving complex denials, underpayments, and appeals.
  • Experience with major payers and strong understanding of insurance billing regulations.
  • Strong working knowledge of UB-04, 837I/P, CPT/HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding.
  • Proficiency in EHR and billing systems such as Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or similar.
  • Familiarity with payer portals (e.g., Availity, NaviNet).
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work during operating hours when insurance companies are available.
  • For remote work, must have:
    • PC with Windows 10 or newer, or MacOS
    • Up-to-date antivirus protection and firewalls
    • Broadband or high-speed internet with secure, password-protected connection
    • Shredder if printing is required
