Inpatient Coder needed to support primary care clinics for a Georgia healthcare company.

Pay Rate: $28.73 – $46.64 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Location: Marietta, Georgia
Work Arrangement: Fully Remote
Employment Type: Contract
Schedule: 8:00am – 4:30pm / Mon – Fri or Sun – Thurs

Responsibilities:
- Review documentation in inpatient and/or IVR (interventional radiology) medical records and handle 14-16 charts per day.
- Accurately assign appropriate ICD-10-CM diagnostic and ICD-10-PCS/CPT-4 HCPCS procedural codes to the greatest specificity.
- Assign the most accurate DRG/APC, when appropriate, and in accordance with Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting and Facility Coding Guidelines.
- Abstract demographic and coding information accurately and completely.
- Abstract all required patient demographic data into the EMR.
- Assign correct DRG/APC.
- Query providers as needed to further clarify codes.
- Manage additional coding responsibilities, contribute to the CFB (candidate for bill) goals, including but not limited to:
- Resolve coding edits and reminders, correct abstracting and coding issues in a timely manner
- Complete and route problem accounts, ready to code, high dollar and other accounts daily to ensure cases are coded as close to goal date as possible.
- Complete assigned work by allotted goal date.
- Assist with coding unassigned or backlogged accounts.
- Serve as a mentor to new coders.
- Assist with cleaning up or escalating missing documentation or other work queues.
- Assist with observation, same day surgery, outpatient and emergency coding when needed.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- Completion of anatomy and physiology course(s) required.
- Minimum 3 years of acute care inpatient and/or IVR coding experience is required.
- Must have demonstrated maintenance of 85% or higher accuracy in abstracting, code and DRG assignment while meeting productivity requirements in previous roles.
- Ability to work in a remote environment.
- Computer/data entry experience.
- Ability to communicate with various members of the healthcare team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites.

- Cert Prof Coder – Hospital OP 1.00
- Reg Health Information Admin 1.00
- Reg Health Information Tech 1.00
- AAPC Preferred
