A behavioral health provider offering a range of comprehensive services, including mental health support, substance abuse treatment, wellness, and recovery programs, is seeking a Substance Use Disorder Therapist to join the team.
As the Substance Use Disorder Therapist, you will provide compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals in recovery, offering therapy and support tailored to diverse needs. This role emphasizes person-centered planning, trauma-informed practices, and culturally competent approaches to help clients define and achieve their personal goals. The therapist collaborates closely with clients, families, and care teams while ensuring compliance with clinical standards, privacy regulations, and organizational policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms with internal teams and external contacts.

Apply knowledge of Evidence-Based Practices and the Diagnostic Statistical Manual in daily work.

Demonstrate empathy, compassion, and respect when engaging with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Collaborate effectively as part of a team and contribute to shared goals.

Identify challenges and implement appropriate problem-solving approaches.

Safeguard protected health information in compliance with privacy regulations.

Maintain driver eligibility and follow organizational policies for vehicle use and client transportation.

Promote culturally competent, recovery-oriented practices.

Support person-centered planning by empowering individuals to define and pursue their own goals.

Foster a trauma-informed environment that supports individuals throughout their recovery journey.

Qualifications
-
Must hold and maintain appropriate licensure in Michigan to provide substance use disorder counseling
-
Knowledge of normal/abnormal development.

Knowledge of addiction and substance use disorders
-
Knowledge of basic counseling and psychotherapy techniques
-
Understanding of ethical implications to the customers/therapist relationship
-
Knowledge of basic psychological and substance use disorder assessment and counseling/treatment techniques
Physical Requirements
-
Requires ability to lift twenty-five pounds.
-
Prolonged sitting and standing as appropriate.
-
Stooping, kneeling, crouching, or bending as appropriate.
-
Requires coordination of hands and/or eyes/hand/foot.
-
Office environment with noise from computers, printers, and telephones.
-
Use of computer for periods of more than 30 minutes at a time.
-
Possible eyestrain from extended periods of viewing computer screen.
-
May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, and parasites.
-
Limited travel is required for this position.
