The Patient Connection Authorization Associate II plays a key role in supporting patient access and financial clearance by managing pre-certifications, authorizations, and referrals in compliance with payer requirements. This position ensures accurate data entry in EPIC, verifies insurance coverage, and communicates effectively to prevent denials and support timely reimbursement. The role requires strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and adherence to company policies to deliver a positive, efficient, and patient-centered experience throughout the authorization process. 

  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Obtain pre-certifications, authorizations, and referrals to ensure managed care compliance through direct contact, insurance websites, or other tools. 

  • Enter authorization details and relevant information into EPIC, including documentation of communication. 

  • Use critical thinking to identify and resolve potential issues that could lead to insurance denials, ensuring maximum reimbursement. 

  • Follow company policies and payer-specific requirements for scheduled procedures. 

  • Deliver a positive and supportive patient experience throughout the authorization process. 

  • Gather, enter, and update demographic, financial, and clinical information required for financial clearance of scheduled patient accounts. 

  • Verify that all necessary data elements are collected and validated for accurate account creation in Revenue Cycle systems. 

  • Notify payers of patient admissions when required. 

  • Accurately estimate patient financial responsibility for complex procedures. 

  • Other duties as assigned  

  

Qualifications  

  • High-speed internet with a router within 50 feet of the workspace (Required) 

  • Private dedicated workspace to accommodate 2 monitors, PC, keyboard, mouse, & headset (Note that equipment is NOT provided) 

  • High School graduate or GED (Required) 

  • 3 yr exp in Rev Cycle or related exp in healthcare, with one of those years working specifically within Healthcare Revenue Cycle. (Required) 

  • At least four (4) years of previous related healthcare Revenue Cycle experience preferred.  

  • A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university preferred.  

  • Certification with Healthcare Financial Management Association, or Certified Revenue Cycle Representative preferred.  

  • Prior Epic experience preferred. Clinical experience (i.e. medical assistant, surgical tech) or completion of medical coder training program preferred.
