A non-profit banking organization serving the community is seeking a Compliance Specialist to join their team for this part-time role.

Pay Rate: $34 – $38 Per HR  
Location: Remote, candidate must live in Pacific Time Zone (PST) 
Employment Type: Contract, 90 days  
Schedule: Part-Time, est. 20 hours per week    

As the Compliance Specialist, you will support the organization’s regulatory compliance and risk management efforts by monitoring adherence to state and federal banking regulations, including BSA/AML and OFAC requirements. This role conducts transaction monitoring, member due diligence, compliance testing, and regulatory research, while partnering closely with internal teams to provide guidance and training. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, regulatory expertise, and a collaborative, service-oriented approach to ensuring effective compliance programs and minimizing regulatory risk. 

  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Monitor and support compliance with BSA/AML, CFT, and OFAC regulations, including transaction monitoring, CDD/EDD reviews, and timely filing of CTRs and SARs. 

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s compliance and risk management programs. 

  • Conduct member due diligence and provide compliance guidance to branches and internal departments. 

  • Perform regulatory research, assess the impact of new or revised regulations, and support implementation across products and services. 

  • Execute periodic compliance testing and reviews, document findings, and track remediation efforts. 

  • Maintain compliance records, reporting, and issue tracking within the compliance management system. 

  • Review marketing and advertising materials and oversee the member complaint process. 

  • Support compliance training and communicate regulatory requirements to staff and management. 

  • Other duties as assigned  

  

Qualifications  

  • Associate degree or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) preferred. 

  • Minimum of four (4) years of successful experience in banking or credit union auditing, risk management, and/or compliance roles, with demonstrated knowledge of deposit and lending regulations including BSA/AML, OFAC, USA PATRIOT Act, Regulation B, and Regulation Z. 

  • Strong working experience with Verafin or comparable compliance monitoring software. 

  • BSA and compliance-related certifications preferred; candidates without completed certifications will be required to obtain them within two years of employment. 

  • Thorough understanding of applicable state and federal regulations, including RCW, UCC, Regulations D, DD, E, and CC, as well as experience preparing and filing regulatory reports such as CTRs and SARs. 

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risk and apply regulatory requirements effectively. 

  • Proficiency with compliance and risk management software applications. 

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet tight deadlines, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional and geographically dispersed partners in a dynamic environment. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience drafting compliance reports and presenting findings to internal and external stakeholders. 

  • Strong member service mindset with a collaborative, partnership-oriented approach.
