A nationally ranked, inclusive healthcare system and one of the largest in Georgia, dedicated to providing exceptional care is seeking a Patient Access Services Team Lead to join the team and help ensure a seamless patient experience.
As the Patient Access Services Team Lead, you will provide frontline leadership and operational support for Patient Access functions within the Emergency Department. This role oversees daily workflows, staff coordination, and patient flow activities to ensure timely, accurate registration and a positive patient experience. The Team Lead serves as a key resource for staff, clinical partners, and leadership, supporting performance goals related to quality, service, and revenue cycle outcomes while ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day operational leadership for Patient Access Services within the Emergency Department, including workflow oversight, staff assignments, and scheduling.

Actively round in triage, waiting areas, and patient rooms to monitor patient flow, identify barriers, and improve throughput and overall patient experience.

Collaborate closely with bed management, clinical providers, nursing, and ancillary staff to support timely registration and care progression.

Train, mentor, and support team members through coaching, onboarding, and ongoing performance feedback.

Provide coverage for open shifts as needed and assist staff with real-time problem solving and issue resolution.

Monitor key performance indicators such as registration accuracy, collections, denials, patient satisfaction, and wait times; investigate variances and trends.

Partner with leadership to develop and implement action plans to address performance gaps and operational challenges.

Serve as a primary liaison between the Emergency Department, internal departments (e.g., Health Information Management, billing, nursing), and external stakeholders to ensure efficient operations and continuity of care.

Ensure timely and accurate pre-registration, insurance verification, and demographic data collection to support revenue cycle objectives.

Enforce departmental policies, procedures, and professional standards, including compliance with codes of conduct and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field preferred.

Minimum of one year in a healthcare or corporate work setting.

Prior lead, supervisory, or team support experience strongly preferred.

Experience with insurance verification, pre-registration, eligibility, and front-end revenue cycle activities.

Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.

Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and interact with patients empathetically and professionally.

Maintain professional appearance and conduct in alignment with department and hospital standards.

Adhere to established work schedules, including proper notice for absences and tardiness.

Attend departmental meetings and complete mandatory training as required.
